The guide really helped me figure out what I want to write about. I think it'll be very useful when writing this paper because it shows us the steps that are necessary when writing a narrative paper. In this type of paper, you need to be as vivid as possible, and make sure the reader has no problem picturing it in his/her head. I also appreciate that the guide poses questions to my peers and I. This makes it easier for a student to write a narrative paper.
The guide makes it very clear what your prompt was, and also goes step by step on how you should describe your topic in a clear and efficient way. As we talked about in class as well as in "Proficiency", the purpose is clear. Why does Nichols want to share this story with us? Well, because she wanted to share her confusion with others, by describing how she felt when failing the writing portion two times in a row. In "Proficiency", I did notice that she didn't really describe the setting as you would expect. She describe it by going into depth on how she felt before she took this test, what kind of student she was, in addition to her love of English and reading and writing. This just shows me that the setting can vary, and it can be very flexible. I think I will greatly enjoy writing this paper!
